Teach Your Dog English

Health experts say that owning a dog is good for the health, improving blood pressure and reducing stress levels. Postal workers in Britain wouldn't agree. More than 7,000 postal workers are attacked by dogs in Britain each year. The most popular names for dogs in Britain are Rover, Fido, Rex, Prince, Sabre, Girl, Bonzo, Sacha, and Laddie. Some people love their dogs more than people. In 1986, Mrs Alexandra Livraghi, owner of a champion dog, said she would rather sell her husband than her dog. Many people believe that dog owners look like their dogs. Others say that owners of large dogs need big pets to compensate for a lack in their own personality. This might be true in the case of Adolf Hitler and his dog, Blondi. Famous dogs include Laika, the first dog to travel in space. There are also many famous film star dogs like Lassie and Beethoven. Lassie was actually a male dog called Pal. Most dogs live for between 8 and 15 years although one Australian dog called Bluey lived until he was 29. The world's most famous dog show is Crufts. The competition was started in 1891 by Charles Cruft while he was working for a company that sold dog biscuits. According to his wife, he never owned a dog. He did, however, own a cat. In 1995 a book was published called The I.Q. Test for Dogs. We want you to test your dog's intelligence by teaching it English.
