Subject: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

America's fascination with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis began when John F. Kennedy swept into the White House in 1961 and brought with him his beautiful young wife and their two children. The family soon captured the heart and soul of America, and the nation fell in love with Jackie.

As first lady, she brought to the nation a newfound interest in the arts, heightened by the press's attention. She quickly captivated the world with her charm and sophisticated taste.

As a mother, she fought hard to protect her children and to allow them to experience life to the fullest. But she defined her major role as "to take care of the President" and added that "if you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do well matters very much."

To the nation, she was style and grace. And the world wept with her and her young children when 1963 marked the assassination of her husband, President Kennedy. The public remained interested even as she shunned the press and privately pursued her new life with a new husband, Aristotle Onassis, and later, companion Maurice Templesman.

APB Online presents here, for the first time on the Internet, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' FBI files and Secret Service files, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. However, it is important to note that our FBI request for files on Jackie managed to turn up hundreds of pages about her husband, JFK. APB has appealed this decision and has asked the FBI to check for more Jackie documents, which we will post hot off the copy machine.
